Maybe parts of Evernote, but Obsidian isn't really the place to store receipts IMO.įor all the hell they've taken recently, I just wanted to say that I love the Scannable app, I love the new Home Feature, the apps are much snappier than they used to be (except on startup), and I feel like they're getting really close to realizing the package I wanted them to become. I'm tinkering with Obsidian right now but I don't see that taking over for EN.

I realize the version 10 rollout was a bit of a monkey/football situation, and I'm still frustrated by the fact the app takes 20 seconds to open on my Mac AND Windows computers, but ingesting important data and documents into Evernote is super super friction-free, and I just find the entire process from Scannable to filed note fits my workflow perfectly. Scannable used the same page on the same surface and generated a much better result in much less time. I set the filter I wanted (which you have to do on a page by page basis, not batch by the way) and then it cropped the page to look all misshapen and odd looking. When I tried my scanning process in OneDrive tonight it gave me what looked like a picture someone took on an LG phone from 2006. It scans documents quickly, it handles multi-page documents with ease, and the end result is actually a perfect rectangular page that looks like a legit photo copy. Then once a week I sit down and organize my EN inbox with tags and store the notes in the correct notebook (of which I only have 3-4.Īnyway, back to my point.one of the most underrated tools for this ingestion process is scannable. Using Evernote allows me to quickly say "damn, that's important, I may need it later - GO". A particular file can be a bill, but it can also be related to my car and my bank account, so the folder I decide to store it in today may not be the folder I look for or choose the next time I need to store this kind of file weeks from now. I've grown accustomed to tags in Evernote and while using a tighter folder structure I find myself sometimes getting jammed up. I see the benefit in this because it's not storing data in a proprietary system and the data is easily moved elsewhere, but it's not without its drawbacks. I've often toyed with - and even implemented from time to time - a system where I store files in a folder structure in OneDrive as opposed to a note in Evernote. I was using Scannable tonight to "ingest" a few receipts/invoices into Evernote and while doing so, I thought I'd do a little comparison test with OneDrive.
